Kelly Messenger is an Air Force brat whose family originated in Alabama and Oklahoma. She moved from Tulsa, OK, to be with family here in Fairhope. She spent 7 years as an animal trainer in two different zoos and 2 years as a vet tech volunteering with Tulsa’s low cost spay/neuter clinic. The span of animals she has worked with in her life include cats, dogs, birds, rodents, reptiles, primates, large carnivores, sea lions and elephants.
Prior to moving to Fairhope, she was a deputy for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office for 6 years, with the last 3 years in a specialized Mental Health Unit. She received a Distinguished Service Award and an Excellency in Policing Award from the OK Women in Law Enforcement in 2011, where she had also been nominated for Female Deputy of the Year. She took a brief hiatus from the sheriff’s office to work as an executive protection specialist in Reno, NV. And now she's a groomer. Who knew?
Kelly currently has six dogs (Harry, Rune, Possum, Bounder, Pinkie and Oliver), a bird, and a Ball Python named Lucille.
